How did you get into 3D CGI?
It was like 12 years ago or so. A friend of mine showed me some of his first 3d attempts in 3D Studio Max 3 (3DS Max nowadays). It was something like a rotating logo or something like that, very simple, but I really liked the visual effects seen on the monitor. I decided to go that way.
What type of 3D work do you?
I specialise in high detailed inorganic modeling and product visualisations. I'm a big automotive fan, so nowadays I prefer to do car models & visualizations... work should be fun, right?
What’s your main 3D app and why?
I'm working with 3ds max as I'm very satisfied with the modeling tools and its interface.
What are your main renderers and why?
My first renderer was Brazil R/S which was very popular few years ago. Unfortunately that engine wasn't developing as fast as the rivals, so I decided to give a chance to new renderers - V-ray and Mental Ray (that comes with 3ds max as a integrated renderer). VRay wins my personal battle as for me it was pretty much the same as Brazil R/S. I'm using it for 3-4 years now and I'm very satisfied as the newest 2.0 version comes with real-time rendering and a car paint shader that seems to be very powerful.
How did HDR Light Studio fit into your workflow?
Although I wasn't 100% satisfied with version 1.5 (my old habits… I still was loving to paint HDR's in Photoshop) the new 2.0 release totally changed my mind. The Live view and impressive lights library was a 'bulls eye' of my needs.
What are the main benefits of using HDR Light Studio?
Right now I don’t have to create so many light sources inside 3ds max or to paint HDR images in Photoshop. HDRLS saves a lot of my time in virtual lighting setup process with its very easy interface and simple 'one click' tools.
Would you recommend HDR Light Studio to other 3D artists?
Sure! If you want to get into higher level with your renderings and decrease the time spent on the lighting setups HDR Light Studio is definitely THE SOLUTION!
